I am doing VSO in Nigeria from 22 – 29 September, to assist an NGO undertaking climate change advocacy work.
I find the role of an MP is pretty all-consuming, working 7 days a week most weeks including many evenings as well as daytime, so I don’t really have spare time to undertake additional voluntary work that would not be considered to be relevant to the role of an MP.  Some of the hours I dedicate to my role may be considered be above and beyond the salaried work of a constituency MP: I certainly don’t comply with the EU Working Time Directive!  Though of course the definition of what is included in the salaried role of an MP is subjective, so it depends who you ask.
